how to: stacked wrist

I've always loved a good stacked wrist. Bracelets, watches, bangles, and cuffs can easily be mixed together for a fun addition to any look. I love mixing earthy bohemian bracelets together to create an edgy, boho addition to any outfit. I don't worry too much about matching and coordinating; it's all about layering lots of unique pieces. My rule of thumb is the more bracelets the merrier!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! Coco Chanel once said, "I don't do fashion. I am fashion." In spirit of the New Year and the many resolutions that come with it, this year let's be fashion. Small details are what make an outfit go from okay to a work of art. Lately, I've had brooches and socks on the mind.

brooches

So first of watch this VIDEO.
I sort of think I love brooches. They're very grandma-chic. I want to pin them all over a blazer school girl style. I want to bedazzle the shoulders of my coat with them. I want to hang a cork board above my desk and decorate it with these precious baubles a la Massie Block from the Clique. (sorry that I just made a Clique reference)

SOCKS:
I want it all: knee socks paired with oxfords and ballet flats, dainty crew socks with heels, and tall socks tucked into ankle boots. I'm a little confused on the rules about when you have to wear tights and when you can wear tights and socks together, but eh who cares? Lucky for us socks and tights are no longer a fashion faux pas; anyone can pull them off now, not just Blair Waldorf.

So I'm off to purchase (or steal from my grandma's closet) brooches and socks. My resolution, besides becoming a Victoria Secret Angel (duh), is to be more open and curious about life. I want to meet and get to know people everywhere: the grocery store, the park, Starbucks. I don't want to look up one day and realize I've already missed everything and everyone.

What are your fashion New Year's Resolutions?

Current State of Mind: Glamour

I'm feeling very glamorous at the moment. I'm lounging across my bed, buried underneath a pile of fabulous clothes. A Tory Burch flat is resting against my leg while my feet are buried in leather, soft corduroys, and cozy knits, and I'm using a voluminous fur vest as a blanket. I'm wearing matching pajamas and fabulous Free People socks that come way above my knees. I've got two new fashion reads beside me, and I'm sipping lemon ginseng green tea. Perfection. I love moments like this.

I'm pretty sure I got this book at the Met. Note to self: Must read. While drinking green tea. And doing crunches.
I'm so excited to use this book. Its full of prompts and inspiring ideas. For example, one prompt says to write a scene where the only dialogue that is spoken is "Uh-huh," "Umm," "Urrr," and "Mm-mmm." Due to watching all of The Carrie Diaries episodes this past week, I have now apparently decided I need to be a writer.
Paris Street Style, duh.
Which is crazier insane asylums or the fashion world? Dying to read.
I really can't even fathom what this book actually is. If anything has ever been called "fashion" or was even beside something that was called "fashion," I'm pretty sure its in this book.

Songs of the Moment:
Blondfire- Waves
Matt Costa- Good Times
Bastille- Bad Blood
Albert Hammond Jr- In Transit

Merry Christmas!

Happy Thanksgiving, y'all.

Sweater- Free People
Top- Free People
Skirt- eight-sixty
Boots- Steve Madden
Necklace- my friends' closet

Happy Thanksgiving! I have so much to be thankful for. Of course I'm eternally grateful for the usuals: family, friends, food on the table, a roof over my head. But I'm also thankful for pumpkin muffins and peppermint mochas at Starbucks every Wednesday night with friends, Gossip Girl marathons by the fire when I'm avoiding homework, freezing to death and laughing much too loud while on the sidelines at football games, and even breaking in new pointe shoes with my ballet girls. I take for granted all the small things that make life magical, and I complain about the less than perfect things too much. So from now on I'll be thankful when Pandora is playing all my favorite songs, and I won't complain when I'm up at 6 in the morning for school... Or at least I'll try. ;)
